Clean water & hygiene (WASH) – vital for children

Safe water and good hygiene keep children alive. UNICEF works in over 100 countries to help provide access to clean water, reliable sanitation and to promote basic hygiene practices that protect children from infectious diseases. In schools and health centres, UNICEF helps install water and sanitation facilities so children can stay healthy and keep learning. In humanitarian emergencies, UNICEF also delivers supplies for clean water and safe hygiene as a first line of defence against disease and malnutrition.

Ukraine – Help for children and families

The war in Ukraine continues to take a devastating toll on children and families, disrupting everyday life and essential services. UNICEF was in Ukraine before the escalation and has stayed to deliver for children. Together with partners, UNICEF supports children and families through emergency assistance and protection services, including help to maintain or restore essential systems and services and to provide support in areas such as safe water, health care, education, and mental health and psychosocial support.
